What the Local Animals Need for Christmas

I hope you enjoy these photos of our last clinic.. (Click here to see Lin's Slide Show) It was the best clinic so far with 150 animals overall who attended the clinic, 145 animals sterilized and 2 cats and 4 dogs adopted out to good homes.
For those of you arriving and wish to bring down more supplies for Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue, I have attached a revised wish list for future clinics and help with animal rescue. See it here.
Thanks again for all of you who volunteered your time to be part of this clinic and all of you who have supported us in many other ways. We could not do it without all of you!!

Jaltemba Animal Rescue

Spay and Neuter Clinic a Great Success

The response to our clinic was overwhelming! Overall, we did approximately 150 animals in 3.5 days and unfortunately had to turn some animals away. Today, our last day of the clinic, 50 animals were sterilized!!

At our first two clinics, we had to go and find homeless, street dogs,. This clinic, Mexican families are bringing their dogs to us!

Before 10:00 a.m. each morning we were filled beyond capacity. That is very heartwarming as it shows the growing confidence in us and the Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue group and the fact that our community is noticing a huge difference in the condition of the animals here. Another change is the number of Mexican people volunteering to help us...it is slow but growing and we are delighted!!!

Our two vets from Mexico City, Yolanda and Enrique (from the Hagenbach Foundation) and our two tecs, Lalo and Humberto (from PEACE) work beyond description...always with a smile on their faces. We so love and appreciate them!

A very special thanks to Brian and Carole Francoeur for offering their beautiful home for the clinic, to Tom Plattenberger for offering deluxe accommodation and breakfast at Casa Libertad, for Ruth Suarez for her caring touch in looking after our vets and tecs at Tom and Bruce's home, to Eddie and Roberto at Xaltemba Gallery and Restaurant for hosting a fabulous dinner! Without these fine people, none of this would be possible!

Our volunteers are, without exception, unbelievable!! I would like to acknowledge each by name but the list is too long...you know who you are and know how appreciated you are as well, I hope!!! Dedicated, hard-working, fun, folks! Our volunteers worked long hours to help these animals and are often exhausted beyond description once the day (or evening!) has ended. On average, we had 30 volunteers working in various areas to look after these animals.

Delicious lunches were provided by by Faye and Fred Hodson, Brian and Bobi Emmon and Dan and Nancy Milski...thank you! We are always ravenous! You provided food to nourish our souls!

Many thanks to all of you who have supported us with donations of money, supplies and acknowledgement. YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!!!

Adoptions Available

We have a number of great animals for those thinking of adopting a new family member dog or cat.  And for those thinking of waiting until they get back to Canada or USA, the cost of adopting a dog at the Campbell River BC SPCA is $220 Cdn (and that is worth slightly more in US funds...!!).  From the La Peñita Spay Neuter clinic, adoption is FREE.

  • 3 small white terrier type dogs- choice male or female

  • two small cats, about 8 weeks old - male or female

  • one Chocolate lab about a year old with incredible eyes!

  • 2 6-week old Jack Russell puppies (mother died, so they were not spayed/neutered yet)

Contact Lin Chimes at linchimes@hotmail.com for more information

More Adoptions!

One black and white kitten, adorable and very playful.

One adult cat, very calm and loving.

Both have been sterilized and Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue will cover the costs of all vaccinations.
